DealCloset Releases Auction Search and Alerting Service

Service enables users to spend less money on their purchase and take less time to find the best deal

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF., June 21, 2005 – Online shopping web site DealCloset (www.dealcloset.com) announced today the availability of its unique new Auction Search and Alerting Service.  The new service, which consolidates auction shopping across Overstock Auctions and other well known auction sites, notifies users via email when an auction will expire within a preset timeframe and the product is selling below the user’s target price.   It also provides more thorough searching capabilities and displays larger pictures than those returned by most auction site’s default search.

“I’ve been frustrated with the time investment required to purchase items on auction sites and the inability to search multiple auction sites simultaneously, and I’ve heard DealCloset shoppers articulate this same frustration,” said Sandra Carrico, DealCloset’s founder and chief developer.

“What I’ve wanted for a long time is a way to specify a search and have a program watch the search results until an item becomes available at my target price, then to be notified by email that it’s ready to buy at my price and within a certain timeframe.  I couldn’t find a service like this anywhere, so I decided to develop it myself, and from the response to DealCloset’s beta there’s obviously a need for such a service on a large scale.””

“”As a frequent  shopper, I was excited to hear about the new Auction Search and Alerting Service being offered by DealCloset,” said Kiran Kamboj, a DealCloset member.  “The service saves me an incredible amount of time and money, and I know that I’m getting the best price because there’s a link to closed  auctions on every search so I can see what other people are paying.  And what’s so great about making these  purchases through DealCloset – beside the efficiency this new service brings to the auction process – is that a portion of each purchase made though DealCloset is donated to some great charities.”

The free search and alerting service is available today at www.dealcloset.com.  It does not require user registration even for alerts, but alerts do require an email address.  Email is never sold or shared and DealCloset never spams its users with unsolicited promotions.
